Marketing Your Reverse Mortgage Business With Guest Posts

This Simple Reverse Mortgage Marketing Tip Will Help You Get More Traffic, Leads and Calls

Guest posts are a fantastic way to help your mortgage website rank better for local search terms, drive more traffic to your website, generate mortgage leads, get more phone calls and provide value to local businesses.

What is a guest post?

It is you writing / providing a blog post to be published on another person’s website or blog. In exchange for the post you get a link back to your website.

Guest posts are beneficial in many ways:

1. You are generating a link back to your website. These links can and will help your website rank better in the search engines.

2. Depending on the traffic and the people visiting the website, you can generate traffic back to your website. More traffic usually means more leads and calls.

3. Provides value to other businesses and referral partners. Most business owners want to blog more but they just don’t end up doing it or can’t find the time. You give them some fresh and relevant content that they can put on their site and also share on their social media platforms. It helps them engage visitors as well as social media followers.

4. Depending on the content you write for the blog, it could show up for local search terms you want to be found for. This could mean you have multiple web properties showing up for a local search term.

For example, let’s say you have a page on your website optimized for people looking for reverse mortgage purchase loan. Then you write a blog post for two real estate agents about using the reverse mortgage to purchase home in “your City”. You could potentially have 3 search results pop up and someone looks for “reverse mortgage purchase YOUR CITY”

I mentioned writing / providing a blog post. The reality is that you don’t personally have to write it at all. If you don’t have the time or just don’t like to write, you can outsource it to professional writers. The costs will range depending on the quality and length of the article. I would expect to pay someone anywhere from $15 to $30 for one well researched and well written 500 to 700 word article.

1. Get Guest Posts On Your Referral Partners Websites

For some quick wins, reach out to your referral partners first. Do some quick research to see if they have a blog. Even if they don’t they may still add your post / article to their website. Real estate agents, CPAs, financial planners, attorneys, in-home care, senior housing, insurance agents etc. I bet most of them would be more than happy to post some content from you.

If you are in any sort of networking group, you should be talking with everyone in that group and asking if they have a blog and asking if you could write a blog post for them.

2. Guest Posts on Local Business Websites

Once you have hit up all of your referral partners, it is time to put on your thinking cap. There are lots of local businesses that you could write a guest post for and get a link back to your reverse mortgage website.

Getting guest posts from local business is relatively easy. Do some research and see if they have a blog. If they do, think of a blog post that you could write or have written for them. Then simply send them an email with a quick pitch. Or for quicker response just give them a call. Unfortunately, many small business owners will not understand the reason nor the benefit to having you provide a guest post for them.

For example, you could contact a local veterinarian. You could offer to provide a blog post titled  “10 Ways Seniors Can Save Money On Pet Costs” This could include assistance from local non-profits, generic drugs, coupons for pet food, etc.   At the end of the article you could have your bio with a link to your reverse mortgage website.

Think about that example. A senior types into Google “assistance with pet care in CITY” they find the article you provided on the vets site. Not only did this get a visitor to the vets website which could lead to a new patient for the vet, but if they need assistance with pet care, they may also need a reverse mortgage.

You pitch should be very simple and to the point.

Dear Veterinarian Name,

My name is YOUR NAME and I am a local loan officer here in CITY specializing in reverse mortgages. I only work with clients 62 or older.

I saw you have a blog on CITYVets.com

I was wondering if you would be interested in me providing a blog post that your senior patients would enjoy  titled “10 Ways Seniors Can Save Money On Pet Costs in CITY”

All I ask for is an author bio at the end with a link back to my website.

In return you get some fresh, relevant content on your site. Plus I will share the blog post on my social media accounts which include Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

If this is something you are interested in let me know.

You could reach out to all kinds of service providers for this, mechanics, plumbers, HVAC, painters, landscapers etc. It is only limited to your imagination.

Easy wins are people you have already done business with. I will once again recommend just calling them up. A much easier sell, more personal and easier to explain the benefits of you providing a guest post.

3. Do Some Googling to Find Reverse Mortgage Guest Posts

If you are having a hard time finding local people to do guest posts with, you can search google for websites that accept guest posts as well.

Here are different search parameters to find mortgage guest post opportunities

Just replace keyword with what ever you are searching for. For example, retirement, finance, housing, real estate, mortgage, taxes, investing, etc.

keyword intitle:”write for us”
keyword intitle:”write for me”
Keyword  intitle:”contribute to”
Keyword intitle:”submit” + inurl:blog
Keyword “submit a guest post”
Keyword inurl:/guest-post/
Keyword “guest post”
Keyword “guest post by”
Keyword “accepting guest posts”
Keyword “guest post guidelines”
Keyword “guest author”
Keyword “guest article”
Keyword “guest column”
Keyword “become a contributor”
inpostauthor:guest keyword
inpostauthor:”guest blog” keyword
inpostauthor:”guest post” keyword

Here is an example of what I found using “reverse mortgage intitle:”write for us””

4. Search Twitter For Reverse Mortgage Guest Post Opportunities

Very, very simple. Just do a search on Twitter to find guest post opportunities. Just use your keyword and guest post. Follow the link, see how to sign up as a guest post writer and that’s it. You may also want to follow that person on Twitter and also reach out to them through Twitter.

Here is what I found on Twitter searching for “reverse mortgage guest post”

5. Search Google For Guest Post Lists

A quick search on Google will provide you with lists of blogs that people have already taken the time to compile and share. The key here is to find lists of blogs that are relevant to you. For example, you are probably not going to get a guest post on a tech blog. In other words, search for relevant lists.

I did a search on Google for “list of finance sites that accept guest posts” here are some of the lists I found.

  1. 25 Finance Blogs  that accept guest posts
  2. 20 Finance Blogs that accept guest posts
  3. 24 Fiance Blogs and 6 That Will Pay You For Posts

Final Thoughts

In all reality, you are not going to need a whole bunch of guests posts to rank for local search terms as long as your content is search engine optimized. This of course will be determined by your local competition which in most cases correlates to the size of the city.

In low competition areas or smaller cities you may only need a handful of guest posts to get to the number one spot. In larger cities you may need to get more guest posts. The only way to know is to do some research on your competitors.

When linking back to your reverse mortgage website you need to be very mindful of the anchor text you are using. You do not want all of your anchor texts to be “reverse mortgage”. Over optimization of anchor texts can lead to penalties of your site. Try to vary the anchor text so that you are using similar but related keywords. Or to play it safe, use your name, your company name or just the domain name as the anchor text.
